Event Planning/Fund raising Suggestions
-
Arrange a night to “Break Bread Together” in your area There are several ways to do this and we’re sure you have good ideas of your own. How about a Potluck/Speaker meeting? Food is donated by participants and you can have two testimonies from OO group members.
A more elaborate dinner is nice too, or a “spaghetti feed” or “Taco night”. An envelope can be placed on the table for donations and dinner served for a modest charge per plate.
Bake Sale-can be included with other fun-raisers, or a raffle with the baked goods as prizes.
Garage Sale- Perhaps more than one group member can host the sale (assuming they are in different neighborhoods). Use everyone you know to contribute goods to sell.
Parking Lot Sale-for multiple groups or if there is a school or church parking lot available and lots of goods to sell.
Restaurant Offer- to help raise funds. It’s so easy. Reserve a night at Millie’s, Applebee’s, Ruby’s or other restaurant “chain”. They will provide flyers for your group to pass out in and around your city. The persons show up at the restaurant at the indicated time and the restaurant will donate up to 20% of their profit to our non-profit Overcomers Outreach.
Bingo or board game Night- Prizes can be donated by group members. Combine this event with a dinner celebration.
Groups with recovering gamblers in attendance must be considerate of the recovery of these gamblers when planning any event with raffles, bingo or other “games of chance” which could exclude or offend these members. Participation is the primary purpose of these events, and unity of the group is much more important than any amount of funds. Our main goal is to have fun in recovery and share the joy with others. We offer the opportunity to be “a part of” the miracle of Christ’s healing power.
